FAQ

Where are you located?

Our workshops are usually held at either a public spot (currently the Steamed Cow Café in Downingtown, Pa) or the private home of one of our members.  When you sign up on MeetUp.com, you will receive an e-mail with the address and directions before the next scheduled workshop.

What should I bring?

Just your notebook is fine. And a pen. If we are meeting in a public place, please buy a cup of coffee or a snack to support our gracious business hosts!

Do I need to provide a writing sample?

No! We know that if you show up and try our exercises, you will write wonderful things!

I write mystery adventures with a sci-fi theme and a chick-flick focus. Can I come?

Yes! Our writers include just about every genre imaginable. We also have some visual artists, comic book illustrators, and song writers. The method is a great way to trigger ideas for new artistic projects of any kind.

I have only really written in my journal up to this point and feel really shy about sharing my work. Is it okay to come anyway?

Absolutely. There's never any pressure to read your work after an exercise. As long as you can make positive commentary on the work of the other members, you are welcome!

Can I bring my neighbor, grandmother, co-worker, cousin, hot date?

Bring anyone you like. The more the merrier! Just RSVP on MeetUp with the number of guests you are bringing.

I'd like to workshop my novel manuscript, poetry chapbook, memoir, short story, etc. Can I do that there?

We have a number of sub-groups run by members that meet to critique manuscripts of all kinds. Please inquire at: info@chestercountywriters.com
